Transfer of Credit

Students who have completed graduate courses in Literatures in English at another university may transfer up to a maximum of 9 credits (three semester courses) toward the Rutgers Ph.D. A grade of “A” must have been obtained in each course, which normally must have been completed within the previous six years. The number of credits will be adjusted for courses longer or shorter than a semester. Normally, no credit may be transferred for thesis work, though exceptions maybe made for foreign universities where a thesis constitutes a major part of the MA. The transferability of particular courses will be determined by the Associate Director. Applications for transfer credits may be made after the completion of 12 credits at Rutgers (not including " S" credits). The graduate program does not transfer MA degrees.
