| Founded in 2007, the Modernism and Globalization Seminar Series hosts
critical conversations that explore the effects of globalization on the
production, circulation, and study of twentieth- and twenty-first
century literature and culture. Modernism and Globalization's inaugural
event, a Symposium on Modernism’s Transnational Futures, was held in
November 2007. It brought together English and Comparative Literature
scholars at Rutgers and at several area universities for an intensive,
two-hour conversation about new transnational methodologies. Future
activities will feature conferences on The Contemporary and on the
Problem of Comparison in Twentieth-Century Studies.
