Every faculty office
is equipped with a networked Dell OptiPlex
system, and configured with the following
software:
- Word Processing:
MS Word, WordPerfect
- Spreadsheet:
MS Excel
- Multimedia/Graphics:
MS PowerPoint
- Database: MS
Access
- Web Browsers:
IE 6, Netscape 7.x
- Email Client(s):
Firefox, Netscape Messenger, MS Outlook
- Utilities: Acrobat
Reader for reading pdf files, WinRar
for extracting zipped files and SSH
for secure FTP tasks
Email
Every user is required
to have a NetID. Your NetID is setup by
RCI
and gives you valuable access to many tools
to enhance your computing efforts. To setup
a NetID, please visit the RCI
Page. Once your NetID is setup, we can
set up your email account access with an
email client (i.e., MS Outlook, Netscape
Messenger, Mozilla Firefox).
Networking
A Novell account is available
to everyone and created for all new faculty
and staff upon their arrival. This account
grants you access to the English server
and to many technical resources throughout
the department. To obtain a Novell account,
please contact the Technical Support Office
at (732) 932-1148 or (732) 932-8539.
Login Procedures:
Each user must enter their Novell “username”
and “password” in order to gain
access to network resources. If you forget
your Novell password, contact Technical
Support to have your password reset.
Network Drives:
After a successful login, the following
network drives are available for data storage
(no programs, images, video and audio):
H:
Personal Storage (for storing personal files)
S: Temporary Storage (temporary
sharing of files)
W: Shared storage (group
collaboration/sharing of files)
We strongly encourage
using the network to save your files. All
network drives (except the S: drive) are
backed up daily.

Printing
Common printing is available
in Murray Hall, Room 102 from the hours
of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This Xerox N2125
printer is installed on every faculty office
computer.
