This section of Intermediate poetry will concentrate on poetry writing through dynamic creative exercises.  We will talk about poetry as collage and as dream. You will also develop your skills in close reading of, listening to, and writing descriptively about poetry. You will become masters of technical terms, but also practice going “on your nerve.” This is a workshop, so a substantial portion of the class will be spent sharing and discussing student work. You will also give a mini-presentation on a poet in translation and write two drafts of poems per week.  When inspiration strikes we may also write outside!

Prerequisite: One 200-level course in creative writing or permission of instructor
