H1-This course examines the fundamental concepts and techniques of literary interpretation, with a specific focus on poetry. We will study the nature of poetic language and the methods of analyzing figurative discourse, genre, and structure. Topics will include versification and the analysis of meter as well as the contexts of poetry (personal, cultural, historical) and the poet’s work with tradition. Readings will be drawn from a wide range of poets.
