Narratives of the Nyugat Era (1908-1941)
The seminar has double aims. First, with the help of history and sociology and through a discussion of the works themselves it will place some of the Nyugat novels and short stories in the times they were written, that is in the political, cultural and social surroundings of the first half of the 20th-century Hungary. Furthermore, via the analysis of contemporary films, television series and other art forms re-telling the narratives of the early 1900s it wishes to locate the connections between the two eras.
