An examination of the post-war history of the American film industry and the social, cultural and economic factors which shaped it over the past half-century.  Film noir, HUAC, the collapse of the Hollywood studio system and the rise of new media will be examined alongside the work of Hitchcock, Ford, Scorsese, Kubrick and others.  Research paper and weekly response reports required.
