The Americanist colloquium at Rutgers is a working group of students and faculty, which meets periodically to discuss contemporary scholarship in the field, primary texts, and student work in the department. The group is closely affiliated with the Americanist Seminar at the Center for Cultural Analysis, an interdisciplinary forum on American literature and culture, which invites a wide array of speakers each year to share current research. Colloquium participants typically attend these talks, often meeting in advance to discuss speakers’ work. The colloquium also works with other student interest groups to promote student research, collaborating on discussions and group workshops.
