Margaret Cavendish and John Milton: Rethinking Seventeenth-Century Literature and Culture
When: Saturday, February 12, 2022, 10:00am
The Medieval-Renaissance Colloquium at Rutgers University presents Margaret Cavendish and John Milton: Rethinking Seventeenth-Century Literature and Culture.
Given the status of the pandemic, the symposium will take place online.
Our participants will be presenting their works-in-progress about two important interlocutors of early modern literature and culture: Margaret Cavendish and John Milton. Firmly dedicated to interdisciplinary research and scholarship, this conference will be a significant intervention in early modern collaborations; scant attention has been paid to the overlap of and conversation between these two authors and philosophers. To that end, the symposium will examine issues of authorship, materialisms, gender and history, and bodies; along with a presentation on a Rutgers exhibit on early modern material culture.
