What is the place of Film Studies in the 21st century English department? How have changes in the disciplines of Film Studies, Media Studies, and Literary Studies – technological, theoretical, institutional – transformed how each understands their subject? Approaches to literature that focus on the medium of representation, including book history, visual culture studies, and sound studies, have thrived in English departments. How might these subfields inform and be enriched by the study of Anglophone film?
Join three scholars long associated with Rutgers English to discuss these questions and to brainstorm about intellectual possibilities at the intersection of these three fields.
