We affirm unequivocally that expert faculty must be free to teach in their areas of expertise—this is fundamental to our institutional integrity. Equally fundamental is our mission as a public research university: to guide students through rigorous, reasoned engagement with challenging and controversial topics. These principles are not negotiable; they define who we are and what we do.
