So many impressive students wanted to work with Friends of Rutgers English this semester that there was only one thing to do: let their enthusiasm and creativity lead the way. Project teams collaborated not only to complete our main task (this newsletter), but also to generate new features for our alumni network and for undergraduate English majors.
The newsletter team was responsible for researching, writing, editing, and laying out most of the articles in the Friends of Rutgers English Newsletter. They were, from left, Adam Mandelbaum, Melissa Arkin, Nicole Wexler, and Erica Yergan.
The undergraduate involvement group researched ways to connect Friends of Rutgers English with current students, and ways to help students feel more connected with Rutgers English. They created a survey for English majors, material for the English website, and a special version of the newsletter just for students. They were, from left, Megan Annett, Allyson M. Fields, and Sarah MacMillan.
And finally, the alumni outreach team worked on new ways to get graduates involved. They contacted dozens of alumni, and created the alumni career profiles now on our website, in addition to laying the groundwork for our forthcoming alumni book club. They were, from left, Mary Szymonowicz, Jennifer Pennacchio, and Brooke Dowd.
My sincere thanks to this semester’s interns, who accomplished more than I could possibly keep up with. Their dedication and their interest sparked a long list of new and ongoing projects that will help shape the future of Friends of Rutgers English.
