This year's Nineteenth Century Group roundtable explores the relationship between extractive industries and the discourses, narratives, and literatures of the global nineteenth century. It will feature presentations by Michael Tondre (Stony Brook), Tamara Fernando (Stony Brook), and Mattie Armstrong-Price (Fordham), and a response by Liz Miller (UC Davis). Together, we hope to reflect on the colonial history of extractivism and its devastating legacy in our current climate and infrastructural crises.
