Deadline to submit: Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 @ 11:59pm

The Mitchell Adelman Memorial Scholarship for Creative Writing is an annual award for excellence in creative writing, dedicated to the memory of Mitchell Adelman, a poet and a Rutgers College student, Class of 1990, who died of leukemia. Students are invited to submit either a single work of short fiction (8 pages maximum) or a group of poems (no less than 3 and no more than 5). You may only make one submission in short fiction OR poetry, not both.

Eligible students must be enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences (school 01). Students must currently be of sophomore, junior, or senior status, with a cumulative GPA of 3.000 at the end of the previous fall semester. The SAS English Department faculty review all entries and determine the recipients of the Mitchell Adelman Memorial Scholarship.

Please note that all materials submitted must be your own work. Click here for information on the University’s policies on plagiarism.

To submit your work, you must completely fill out the Adelman Scholarship submission form. The form closes at the deadline. Do NOT include your name or any identifying information on your work.
