Dissertating Writing Seminar

The Writing Seminar is open to advanced graduate students who are at the dissertation stage. Run in a workshop format, the seminar is designed to provide support, guidance, and motivation for dissertation writers. Participants are expected to write regularly and to share what they have written. We will discuss arguments, and how to put them together, as well as strategies for completing individual chapters while developing the broader arc of one’s project. Participants will draft and revise written work across the course of the semester and provide thoughtful, constructive responses to the work of others. Weekly meetings are intended to provide support, guidance, and motivation for making sustained progress on the dissertation. Although the seminar will emphasize in-person classes, some of our sessions may be held over Zoom (depending on the wishes of the seminar members).
